A few quick thoughts on a couple of music-related topics today:
- This is going to sound old and/or hipster, but I am finding a new appreciation for all physical media lately, not just my vinyl, but also CDs, BluRays, etc. I don’t like that some company can just decide you can’t have access to something you already purchased. There are songs by bands that I can’t find on streaming, but I have the CDs, and probably the mp3 rips, but sometimes it’s just nice to throw on a CD and listen.
- Looks like Sleigh Bells just dropped a new track and announced a tour this summer. My first reaction to the new track was that, yeah, it’s Sleigh Bells, sounds like more of the same, but before I knew it I had listened to it four times through and considered putting it on repeat. Instead, I am now playing their entire back catalog, which goes against what I just said above about physical media (I mean, streaming music is convenient).
