This is more for me than anyone, but I wanted to do a vibe check on my own blog.
Number of blog posts per month:
I started the year OK, but by April I had lost steam and oof, May was just terrible. Why am I paying a company for a blog if I’m posting only once a month?
That’s just stupid.
June wasn’t all that much better, but on June 10 I launched my other blog, which focuses exclusively on music. Right away I had written up a bunch of posts and was about to start posting them immediately. Then I remembered how I go through spurts of creativity, and then decided to post once a day.
Shalee, who is much smarter than me, knew that I would burn myself out posting daily, even if just on weekdays. She is the one who suggested I only post two or three times a week.
And so it was, I posted on This Track Is Fire on M/W/F, and that’s it. This means that most times I have a cache of posts to queue up, most times, and that has worked really well for me thus far.
So why not use that same approach for my main blog?
I decided to post on T/Th/F for this blog, but then remembered I liked to write a brief weekend wrap-up (which, if I am being honest, I am going to write-up regardless when I IM my friend Adam), so, M/T/Th/F it is (with Monday being optional)!
That means I should be posting to this blog about 12 times a month, minimum (due to Monday being optional).
And here it is late August and I’ve posted 19 blog entries (for those counting, that’s more than the previous four months, combined). I mean, yeah, some are bullshit, like this one, but I’m posting more, and that, my friends, was the point. I am feeling productive and creatively fulfilled, which is the point of living, let alone writing a blog.
So, again, all thanks goes to Shalee. She knows how to best address my adult ADHD better than anyone and offers me solutions to be successful, so thank you, my love!
We’ll see how September goes!
