Bandcamp Friday: What I Bought! (September 2025)

Supporting Independent Music & Artists Straight From My Bank Account

Just in case you’re not familiar with the concept of Bandcamp Friday I’ve linked an explanation.

On Bandcamp Friday 100% of the proceeds go directly to the bands, so yes, I support that 100%.

All that said, here is what I purchased during the Bandcamp Friday for September, 2025, but also why.

Idles Rabbit Run”

I am tempted to call this a return to form,” but that’s really not fair. Bands are allowed to change, morph, and grow into whatever they want to. Sure, I love their albums Brutalism, Joy As An Act of Resistance, and Crawler, and while Tangk has yet to grow on me, it’s not up to me to dictate what a band does/doesn’t do. All that said, personally I prefer this track as it sounds like something that would have come off of those three albums I mentioned. If this is where IDLES are heading, I am all for it (a the time I am posting this I have not checked out the soundtrack to the film Caught Stealing that this track is from, and contains other contributions from the band).

In short, I like it melts my face and I like it.

Lambrini Girls Who Let The Dogs Out

If IDLES isn’t your jam because you prefer people screaming in your face to have more estrogen allow me to introduce to the equally volatile Lambrini Girls. Safe, this isn’t, it’s an aural assault, which I am good with, but be warned if that is not something that you’re into.

Particular highlights for me: Big Dick Energy,” No Homo,” Bad Apple,” and Cuntology 101.”

I confess that I had this group and this album on my Wishlist for far too long and I should have purchased this album long ago. I am happy to report that I have corrected that egregious mistake.

If IDLES melt your face (and believe me, they do), Lambrini Girls also melt it but then kick you in what was formerly your mouth with a steel-toe boot, and you will thank them for it through broken teeth.

Lazerpunk REX

Whereas before Lazerpunk would release just a single track he has changed things up where now there is an original mix then typically a sped-up and also a slowed-down mix of his one-off releases. Is this to get people to pay more? I don’t know, and honestly, I don’t care.

For me, any time I see a new track from Lazerpunk I immediately at it to my Wishlist and almost always immediately buy it/them at the next Bandcamp Friday, sometimes without even listening to them. His track record is just that solid.

This track, as ever, is a solid banger.

Nuff said!

Panic Shack Panic Shack

I have been eagerly awaiting Panic Shack’s full-length debut ever since I heard their song I Don’t Really Like It” over three ago. Sure, they’ve released an EP and some singles since then, most of which I have purchased, but I am happy to finally own their first complete album.

And if you’re counting, yes, that’s two fully-female punk acts this month, who are similar in some ways, but different in others. Whereas Lambrini Girls lean more towards cacophony, Panic Shack lean more toward the punk/power pop side of things. This doesn’t make one better than the other, in fact, Panic Shack are just as full of sexual identity politics as Lambrini Girls are, it’s just a slightly different approach.

There’s more than enough room in this world for good music, so bring it on!

Parastatic Concrete Reborn

I found this group and this album reading the excellent Turn & Work blog, which I noted on my other blog.

Just like I did there, I’m going to copy/paste their words because they capture exactly how I feel:

The new record from Newcastle’s Parastatic really shouldn’t work. Concrete Reborn is a post-punk, noise-rock, art-rock concept album about… brutalist architecture. It’s the kind of idea that sounds like a parody of a Pitchfork review. I’m here to tell you: it works. Does it ever. Concrete Reborn is dense, beautiful, political, and deeply strange.

Seriously, this album is that good.

Sid Le Rock Raven

I recently highlighted this track on my music blog, but if you don’t feel like checking it out let me just cut to the chase: this is my favorite track from the purchases I made this month.

I have said this many times now (including on my other blog) that though I am not sure where this mixed of EDM with EBM/Industrial came from, but I absolutely love it. It speaks to the dark parts of my heart that also want to dance.

I’m eager to see what Sid Le Rock and Beachcoma records put out next!

Snowbeasts Live Wire Session

Another group that I recently highlighted on my music blog, Snowbeasts are also part of this melding of Industrial with dance, and this half-hour of driving electronic beats is an excellent way to dip your toe into their world.

Industrial music coming from the Midwest (Ministry, Nine Inch Nails; yes, I’m dating myself) is nothing new, but from Rhode Island? I did not expect that, but that’s one me, because this is excellent.

If you like your dance music extra stompy, then this is 100% for you. I love it!

As always, support independent artists and independent music!
